More Baby Stuff

If you're not tired of hearing about baby stuff, keep reading. We just received our glider this week, after waiting over 3 months for it to arrive. It's really big and comfy and I think it will be nice to have during those middle-of-the-night feedings! Thank you Mimi and Olfa!!! The baby's room is now complete! We've also bought a digital video camera and Micah is trying to figure out how to use it tonight.....he seems a little frustrated with it right now, but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it.

We had a doctor's appointment today and things are still looking good. Dr. Koch thinks the baby could possibly come early because of the baby's size and how low I am carrying. It's nothing to worry about, she just thinks the babe may come earlier rather than later! We took a breast feeding class last night, which will probably be helpful. And we were supposed to start our childbirth class tonight, but it was cancelled due to a sick instructor. So we'll have to reschedule. We also have already pre-registered at the hospital and met with our new Pediatrician, so we are ready!

I'm still feeling really good......my only complaint is that my feet are a little swollen and I can't fit into many of my shoes! I had to buy a pair of cheap shoes today so I'd have something to wear!

Baby Shower in Texas

The Texas baby shower was a big hit! My friends are wonderful and really made everything very special. Melissa gave me a huge surprise by flying into Texas all the way from Washington DC.....I was shocked to see her walk through the door!!

We received a ton of gifts....our car seat, pack-in-play, stroller, and high chair were all purchased and are being shipped to Nevada. Micah's Aunt Nannette made a gorgeous blue and green afghan. My mom made several items to match the baby's room, inlcuding an organizer that hangs on the crib and a cute stuffed hippo. We received lots of other gifts too, as you can see in the picture. Oh, and a bunch of Texas A&M clothes for our future Aggie! If you're wondering what in the world Micah is doing in the last picture.....Tracy's husband Matt gave Micah a "Diaper Duty Tool Belt," equppied with everything he will need to change diapers!!! Does he look ready, or what??

Healthy Baby

I had another doctor's appointment today and everything still looks good! Now the doc wants to see me every 2 weeks and she gave me homework......by my next appointment, I need to have chosen a pediatrician and have pre-registered at the hospital!!! My doctor seems to think this baby is coming soon.....but I guess I only have 2 months left so I better get myself in gear! She did tell me she thinks the baby is positioned head first now (although this could change because the baby is still moving around quite a bit). But this was good news for me! Baby Langdon is also starting to fight for space. It's little foot keeps kicking me in the ribs and making me a bit uncomfortable. The baby and I are going to have a little chat about this tonight! :o)

I heard the beat.

Last night I heard the baby's heart beat. No, not with a fancy gadget, but with my ear. All I have to do is put my ear to Kelly's belly and I can hear the baby's heart beat. It's pretty cool! Kelly is now in her 30th week, which means the baby is about 3 pounds and 17 inches long from head to toe.

Washoe Lake

We took the dogs out to Washoe Lake today to play (the lake in between Carson and Reno). The weather has really cooled off here this weekend and today the high was around 70 degrees.....not too bad! I've also included a few pics of my growing belly!

Update on Baby's Room

We picked up the baby's dresser/changing table this weekend and the room is really coming together now! All we lack is the glider, which should arrive in the next few weeks (we already have the ottoman). And, yes, this baby has better bedroom furniture than we do!

A friend of mine also gave us a really nice bassinet! It will be helpful to have in our bedroom for the first few weeks/months. Thanks Kim!!!

Bye Bye Beetle

We've sold my beloved Beetle (sniff, sniff) and upgraded to a more family-friendly car. It's treated me good for almost 5 years, but I think we found it a good home. Here are a few farewell pictures.

And here is the new car....2005 Toyota RAV4. We bought it in Sacramento and it is being delivered to Reno tomorrow. It only has 13,000 miles on it and we feel like we got a really good deal. It is 4x4 so it will be easier for me to get around in the snow.

Reno Balloon Races

We woke up VERY early this morning and drove to Reno for the balloon races. Starting at 5:00 am there was a "glow show" and then at sunrise close to 100 balloons took off at the same time. It's pretty awesome to see! This was our third year to attend and we went with our friends Kim and Bob.

Kelly and the Belly

I had a doctor's appointment this morning and everything looks good! The baby's heartbeat is really strong! The baby is measuring perfect for a delivery on December 5th (give or take 2 weeks). I tested negative for gestational diabetes and anemia. Dr. Koch says the baby may be in the breech position, but it is hard to tell at this point. As the baby gets bigger, she'll be able to tell for sure. She did say if the baby is breech I will definitely have a C-section (hopefully this won't happen).

I've gained about 17 pounds so far (5 pounds just in the past month). She said I'll probably gain another 10-15 pounds before this baby is born....I know this sounds like a lot of weight but the doc says I'm right on track. Now I will start to see Dr. Koch more frequently. She wants to see me again in only 3 weeks and after that at least every 2 weeks. The end is near (or maybe I should say the beginning)!!!

Brian is Our Hero

Kelly's brother Brian just came out for a long weekend visit. We kept him pretty busy hiking, bike riding, and beaching at Lake Tahoe. He also had his 22nd birthday while he was here.....man is he old or what???? Kelly's belly is really showing now, as you can see in the pictures. She is now at the beginning of her third trimester (7th month)......only 3 more months to go!

Look closely and you'll see Micah and Brian on the trail.

Portland

Micah was in the city of Portland last week for work to learn about art and the environment. Apparently Portland is a very cool city. It has a very friendly community, it is very environmentally friendly, and there had to of been some sort of water fountain/feature on every corner. The pictures below are of a fountain designed by Lawrence Halprin who has done some amazing work. With all the laws of today something like this could never be built. If you click on the Portland title it will take you to a little article on Portland and Lawrence Halprin. Anyways it was a pretty cool city.

Kelly has been in Denver all of this week and she is finally home. I sure missed her and man is her belly big. I think that we are having twins! She was in Denver for a women's health conference which I think that she enjoyed.

Kayak Trip

The guys took a 17 mile kayak trip Saturday and almost covered the entire east shore of Lake Tahoe (the Nevada side). They started at 6:00 am and finished by 4:00 pm. Even more amazing is the fact that no teeth were broken and nobody got hurt (Micah tends to have accidents in kayaks)!

I'm Seeing Spots

Micah has been painting the baby's room all week and just finished! It is bright, fun, and we think the babe is going to love it! Now all we need is the rest of the furniture to arrive. Take a look at Micah's handy-work.

Our Weekend

We've had a productive weekend cleaning, organizing and getting things ready for the baby. We picked out paint for the baby's room and Micah is going to start painting this afternoon. We did manage to take a cool hike last night and saw an awesome sunset. Here's some pics. Micah has also been taking lots of pictures of my growing belly.

Feeling the Baby

Before Tuesday I was feeling baby "flutters" every now and then, but nothing strong or consistent. Then on Tuesday I was getting a massage and really started to feel something different. The baby must like massages because he/she was pushing or kicking me the entire hour! Then yesterday after work I felt the same thing again. Micah was even able to feel the baby by putting his hand on my belly! We are pretty excited to finally be feeling some strong movements!

10 Year High School Reunion

We can hardly believe we have been out of high school for 10 years, but it's true......we attended our reunion in College Station last weekend. It turned out to be a lot of fun to see old friends and catch up with people. I finally got to meet Veronica's new baby girl, Emma. Micah even got some practice holding her! We also got to spend time with our family, which is always nice.
