Halloween

We started celebrating Halloween last week with a Pumpkin Parade at the kid's school. Here is Owen's class all dressed up. The school is part of the college and the kids went trick-or-treating around the staff offices.

After we went to our neighbor's houses, we headed to the Governor's Mansion area for the craziness. It also got cold outside so Adler got to wear Owen's monkey costume to stay warm.

No, we did not wait in line at the Governor's mansion, but it's always fun to check out the crowd.

Corley Ranch

Owen's class took a field trip last week to Corley Ranch in Gardnerville for their annual Harvest Festival. We've gone to this festival for the past few years, but never with an entire class! Here they are watching a short film on how to grow a pumpkin.....I think Owen could have taught them a thing or two.....just throw an old pumpkin in the compost pile and in a year you'll have a brand new pumpkin!

Melissa & Steve

Melissa and Steve were in Reno last weekend celebrating their first anniversary (all the way from Washington DC)! We took them to Tahoe since Steve has never been here before and enjoyed a stroll at Taylor Creek to see all the salmon spawning. We also had a nice picnic lunch at the beach.




We were probably about a week early to see the fall colors, but they were already turning and looking pretty.

Owen really enjoyed all the fish!

Birthday Parties Galore!

Tis the season for birthday parties! September through December are packed with birthday parties for both Owen, Adler and all of their friends. We've already hit a bunch of one year old parties and now the 4 year old parties are just around the corner.

Making the rounds....

We went to a dual birthday party last weekend for Ethan (turned 3) and Richie (turned 1).

This party was also Halloween-themed and costumes were required. So now you'll know what the Langdons will be disguised as on Halloween!

The only reason Owen wanted to be a pirate for Halloween was so he could have a toy sword!

No, this is not a lip ring. Micah has been making some washer board games and is trying something new with these rings. Adler has found a different use for them.....carrying them around in her mouth.

Brother & Sister

Owen and Adler are SO cute together and love each other so much! It's the greatest thing for a parent of 2 to observe. Adler follows her big brother around the house and Owen is always wanting to play with Adler and help her do things. He has recently been encouraging her to walk to him. It's just adorable.

These first 2 photos were taken at their school by one of Adler's teachers. Their playgrounds are separated by a fence, but they often find each other when their classes are outside at the same time. Adler's teacher said they were hugging and kissing through the fence!

I hope they continue to be this close.

One day Owen heard Adler wake up from a nap and decided to climb into her crib to play. They played in there for at least 20 minutes.

Breastfeeding Photo Shoot

I have recently completed a really cool project at work......my second annual Nevada Breastfeeds 2011 Calendar. This year a professional photographer in Reno (Roz with Nevada Heirloom Photography) donated her time to take photos of Nevada women breastfeeding their babies. There was such a huge response in Reno that we had about 40 moms participate in three different photo shoots. Obviously I didn't need that many photos for a calendar, but the women were excited about the prospect and so dedicated to breastfeeding their babies, that we took them all up on it. Roz took all the photos outside, in public places and the result is stunning. I have printed 5,000 calendars that will be distributed across the state to hospitals, physician offices, WIC clinics, etc. with the hope to help normalize breastfeeding.

Roz also offered to take some photos of Adler and me......and even though I didn't put myself in the calendar, I absolutely love this photo of us. What a special time in my life to have these precious moments with my baby girl.

Adler is still crawling most everywhere.....she CAN walk, just doesn't choose to. She seems to be very cautious. But here she is taking a few steps.

Lattin Farms

Last weekend we took the kids to Lattin Farms in Fallon, NV for their annual Oktoberfest. It was the perfect day for an outdoor festival!

Fun in San Diego!

We recently returned from a week long trip to San Diego. I had to go there for a conference for work (tragic, I know). I always love heading to southern California. I extended my work trip so we could have a mini-vacation and we made it to the San Diego Zoo, LegoLand and of course to the beach! The zoo was fantastic....by far my favorite zoo I've ever visited! Even Adler got excited when she saw the animals.

We also spent a couple of nights in Carlsbad where LegoLand is located. It was a cute little town with some great beaches. We were able to meet up with Micah's childhood friend Sean and his clan. They live in Orange County and drove down to LegoLand to spend the day with us. Micah and Sean hadn't seen each other since high school, so it was a fun reunion. Sean also has young children, so Owen was thrilled to have some kids to play with. (For those of you that don't know, LegoLand is basically a Six Flags for kids ages 3-10)

Owen was concentrating very hard on building his sand cave and planting some feathers he found on the beach.....very serious work here.

Owen rode his first roller coaster at LegoLand. Yes, the $14 I paid for this overpriced picture was totally worth it. Owen looks scared to death here. But when he got off he said it was fun and scary, and he agreed to ride more roller coasters throughout the day! What a BIG boy!
