Our Little Triathlete!

Last weekend Owen competed in the Carson City Kids Triathlon. I have been training for a sprint triathlon to be held this fall, so Owen was stoked to participate in his own race. He was in the youngest age group where parents were allowed to assist throughout the event. This is what he did: 25 yard swim, .4 mile bike and .4 mile run. It was seriously the cutest event I've ever seen and Owen was super excited about it!!! For several days after the event he kept asking to do another triathlon.

Here are all the 4-6 year olds getting prepped before their race.

And here's the swim line-up.

Owen can't swim very far by himself, so I assisted him in the pool.

This was the transition station.

Putting on socks and shoes for the bike portion.

Micah rode this portion with Owen, and this was by far his best event. Most of the kids his age are still using training wheels, so Owen was able to bike much faster.

As soon as the bike race was over, he took off running! Look at that determination!

He took off really fast, but soon slowed down. The run was a little far for him, but he did it (with a little encouragement).

Almost there......

And he got a medal at the finish line.

I am so proud of Owen for finishing the race. I think it's safe to say I have a little competitor on my hands.

Tahoe

This day started off as a typical, gorgeous day in Tahoe.

Micah's family was in town and we took the canoe out while the kids stayed on the beach. FYI, canoeing by ourselves is far more relaxing than with 2 wiggly kiddos!

Micah's parents rented a boat for the day and Micah was sooooooo excited to dust off his wake board and try some of his old tricks.

Micah started off great but soon got a little too ambitious (and he forgot he's not 20 anymore).

To make a long story short, Micah had a rough fall, almost blacked out, got a concussion, lost his short-term memory, and took a trip to the ER.

But at least we captured these great photos, right???

All kidding aside, it was a pretty scary car ride to the ER. But he is perfectly fine now and is hoping to go wake boarding again next month while we're in Texas. He's going to have to buy a helmet though.

Here are just a few more cute photos from the Langdon visit.

Owen got a short buzz cut.....perfect for summer, but he sure does look old now!

SMORES!!

Mmmmmmmmmmm. Goodness.

Emerald Bay Hike

These are some fun hiking pictures from a few weeks ago when Micah's family was here. We took them over to Emerald Bay to check out Eagle Falls.

Not a bad view......

Owen loves to hike!

Adler loves to fly!

Enjoying the very cold Tahoe water.

Just a bunch of tree huggers!

Cheers

When Micah's brothers were visiting we took a day off work and went on a wine tour in El Dorado County, California. We had a driver that drove us from Tahoe to California, took us to 5 wineries and provided a picnic lunch......such a fun, adult day for us!

This was my favorite winery we visited. I'll definitely be going back there!

Nice views

My very fun sister-in-law, Nicole!

I'm pretty sure I drank more wine that day than I ever have before. Ever. Good times.

The Langdon Invasion

Last week we had lots of Langdon company! Micah's parents were here at our house and Micah's brothers and their significant others were vacationing at Tahoe. We had a great time doing lots of things: hiking, boating, swimming, wine tasting, eating, and the list goes on. The next several posts will be dedicated to their visit, as we have so much to share!

It's always fun when the three (now four) Langdon boys get together.

Owen and Adler both loved their Uncle Mark and Uncle Matt!

Owen & Olfa watching the fireworks

My kids didn't really care about the fireworks. They were far more concerned about what snacks we had to feed them.

I just love Adler's little pony tail.

Mimi and Olfa took the kids to Virginia City to ride the train one day. Adler wasn't too sure about all the noise, but Owen loved the train ride, as usual!
