Trip to California Coast

A little weekend getaway was just what we needed! As I celebrated my 31st birthday this past weekend (how did that happen?) and knew another spring snow storm was on the way, we made a quick run to the Californaia Coast for a long weekend trip. The weather wasn't quite as warm as I would have liked, but we didn't get stuck in a crazy snow storm either! We took Owen to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and all 3 of us had a blast....what an amazing aquarium! We stayed in Monterey for 2 nights and just enjoyed the area, humidity, and the gorgeous coastline. We also found several awesome parks that Owen could have spent days playing at. Our only mishap was the first day of our trip when we stopped at Daffodil Hill and Owen's finger got plucked by a chicken.....he may be seriously damaged for life. When we talk about chickens he still shakes his finger and says (very sternly) "no, no!"

Let's Go Sledding!

Last weekend we took advantage of the snow and went up to the lake for some sledding time. Owen had a BLAST in the snow (and so did the dogs)!

It was only a matter of time for Owen to want to ride the skateboard himself. He LOVES to ride around the block with his daddy!

Big Brother

That's right......Owen is going to be a BIG Brother! I am about 14 weeks along right now and due the beginning of September. We are really excited about the new addition to our family!

Owen has become quite obsessed with babies lately and he seems to think he has a baby in his belly too. Although Micah told him I swallowed a baby, so who knows what he's thinking. He's probably very confused.

My belly is already pretty big......I'm showing much, much earlier than I did with Owen. In fact, with Owen, I wasn't this big until I was about 20 weeks pregnant. I've already been wearing maternity clothes for weeks. It's crazy how much faster things are happening this time around.

Here's our ultrasound pictures from 13 weeks.....it is amazing how much the baby developed from 8 to 13 weeks!! During this ultrasound we could count 5 fingers on each hand, see different heart valves, different parts of the brain developing, and see the baby bouncing/moving all over the place inside my uterus. The doctor kept having to wait for the baby to sit still so he could get the measurements he needed. It looks like we've got another active kid on our hands!

Hide, Hide, Hide

Owen LOVES to hide. He hides under tables and chairs, behind curtains, inside closets, and under blankets. He especially likes to hide when we want him to get dressed or do something he doesn't feel like doing. But a few weeks ago, the worst happened when he hid from me while we were in a clothing store. All of a sudden I heard him whispering "hide, hide, hide," and when I turned around, he was gone. I finally found him hiding inside a rack of clothes and the only reason I found him was because he hit his head and started crying. I'll have to be more careful from now on.

Late Snow

We've hardly had any snow all winter and now that it's March......we get SNOW!! This is what we woke up to this morning. Carson City is actually pretty when its covered up in snow.

Owen Boy

We've really been pretty boring lately, not doing anything exciting. I'm just catching up with some cute photos of Owen over the past week or two. Here he is, very proud of spilling his water all over himself.

Owen has lots of things he MUST sleep with every night......several stuffed animals, his baby, two pillows, hotwheels, trains, and his cup of water. But last night he also had to sleep with the basketball.

A Family Date

For Valentines Day yesterday we had a family date. We went to dinner (a very early dinner) and a movie in Reno. This was Owen's first movie and he did pretty good. He got a bit restless and wanted to walk up and down the stairs, but it was a kids movie so I don't think anyone was offended. We saw the movie Hotel for Dogs, and don't worry.......I took this picture before the movie had started!


Last week Owen had his first Dentist appointment and he didn't seem afraid at all. He let the dentist scrape his teeth and everything. She said he had some plaque and we need to do a better job at brushing his teeth......easier said then done. She also said we need to start flossing his teeth! WHAT?? This is going to be fun.

Say Cheese!

We gave Owen a few of our old, broken cameras to play with and he loves taking our pictures. He walks around the house telling us to "say cheese!"

Anything with Wheels

Owen enjoys riding anything with wheels......bikes, trikes, scooters, skateboards, etc. We have to keep the skateboards hidden because they're still a little dangerous for him. But he's getting pretty good on his scooter and bike.

Thomas the Train.....LIVE!

We went to Reno today to see Thomas the Train LIVE! A year ago I had no idea what Thomas the Train was and now he is the center of my life. Owen is obsessed with trains and actually sat for almost 2 hours today watching the Thomas show. There was singing and dancing, with lots of trains and an auditorium full of toddlers. At the end of the show Owen was blowing kisses to the trains.......very sweet!

We met our friends Enid and Brock there......they have so much fun playing together!


Here are the boys getting some energy out during intermission. We asked them to hold hands to keep them together and off they went running, hand in hand!

Lazy Weekend

It was a lazy weekend around our house. Here are some random pictures of Owen.

Owen likes to look in his belly button for lint......but he really likes to search other people's belly buttons, so beware next time you come to our house. Owen has no problem lifting up your shirt to see what you're hiding in there.
