April Catch Up

I know it's already May, but I'm still playing catch up with April!  Here's what we've been up to.

Adler had some dental work done, as she had several teeth where the enamel was actually chipping away.  The dentist had to go in and reconstruct 3 of her molars.  I was so nervous for her (because I absolutely loathe going to the dentist), but she was actually excited about it!  They make it so fun for kids now, with movies on the ceiling, blankets, stuffed animals and special gifts afterwards.  She seriously thought it was fun.  So I sat back, chewed my fingernails and tried to act completely calm.  They've got this pediatric dentistry down to an art now!

Adler attended the cutest spring tea party at her friend Ella's house.  She was so excited that they drank "real" tea.  She also learned what a sugar cube is, and I have no idea how many she popped in her mouth during the party!

Micah was out of town on his birthday, but he managed to get home just in time for a late dinner.  He decided to hit up some local food trailers for his special meal and for dessert we went to Gourdoughs!  That's right, in lieu of cake we had these amazing dessert donuts from one of the most popular trailers in Austin!  Yum.

Owen tried out ice skating at his friend Aiden's birthday party.  He had a difficult time in the beginning, but after a while he started to get the hang of it!

Owen finally lost his first tooth!  Most of his friends have lost 4-6 teeth at this point and he has been anxiously awaiting this moment!!  He was a little freaked out at first by the blood, but got over it quickly!
Here is Adler with her friends Ella and Anna at the Zilker Botanical Gardens!

We took the kids to see the Cat in the Hat performance.  It was really cute and great for young kids!  Adler is still talking about how funny that cat was!

Micah's boss throws the most awesome Easter party every year.  She has been hosting this party for over 10 years now and has the perfect property for it! There were multiple egg hunts (broken down by age groups), other kid games, balloon animals, prizes, food, drinks, and a band!

Soccer Player Owen!

Owen has been playing soccer since February.  This is definitely his favorite sport so far and he happens to be pretty good at it.  He had a blast playing this season and made a couple of good friends along the way.
Go Sidewinders!!!
Owen and Lovelace have become good friends and his parents just happen to be Aggies!

Mimi and Olfa came to watch him play!

This team picture was taken after the last game

Owen's teacher, Mrs. DePue, came to watch him play!  Isn't that awesome??  We are certainly going to miss her!

Grandma watched several games and this is the best picture I could get!

So proud of my Owen!

Enchanted Rock

We recently joined Micah's parents in Fredericksburg for a weekend camping in their camper!  We only stayed for one night, but the campground was super kid-friendly and FUN!
They this big "bounce pillow" that the kids bounced on for hours.

The highlight of our weekend was hiking Enchanted Rock!  Micah and I hiked it about a year ago, but we were excited to bring the kids back.  And they both beat us to the top!  We also took Micah's parent's dog, Booker, with us on the hike.  I'm pretty sure he enjoyed every second.
As soon as we made it to the top, it started to rain!  We quickly found cover under a bunch of giant boulders, and luckily the rain didn't last long.

When the rain stopped we went back to the top for a look around at the gorgeous views.  It was a bit slippery so we just took our time.
Adler was really independent on this hike.  She just took off on her own and tried to stay ahead of us.

We caught a fun trailer ride around the campground where Yogi the Bear joined us.  The kids thought this was hilarious!

Bluebonnet Time of Year!

Last week I took the kids out to a gorgeous field of bluebonnets and snapped some spring pictures of them.  After living away from Texas for almost 10 years and now being back home, I've become a little obsessed with bluebonnets and am really enjoying the amazing display this spring!  They are everywhere and absolutely gorgeous!

I can't believe how old and mature my son looks here.
This was a cute little conversation.

The kids had a blast running through the bluebonnets and picking other wildflowers.  We spent over an hour in this field of blue.

Adler is a little easier to photograph, since she actually enjoys smiling and posing for the camera!  She was a little concerned about getting her dress dirty though.

Here are a few out-takes.  Owen is such a jokester!
Now I have to decide which ones to print and frame!
