Sun and Snow

We finally had some good weather last weekend, so we pretty much spent the entire weekend outside. On Saturday we enjoyed some spring skiing at Heavenly. This was Owen's first ride up the gondola. This kid is not scared of heights!

And this is Owen's first ride on a real ski lift. We've taken him skiing a few times this winter, but he's stayed on the bunny slope. He was really excited to get on the BIG lift this time.

He's really doing a great job skiing. He still needs to learn how to slow down, but I've been so impressed with how quickly he's picked it up. Thank goodness for the harness!

Look at him go!

After a couple of runs with Owen, Adler needed a break. She got tired just watching her big brother ski!

We went to Heavenly with a couple of other families and they were nice enough to watch the kids for a while so we could catch a few runs by ourselves. This was the first time in 2 years that I've been skiing....it was AWESOME.

While I was busy being pregnant and taking care of babies these past 2 years, I forgot how much I enjoyed this!

The boys were ready to go swimming.

After our ski fun we stopped by to see some friends. Here are Adler and Max.

On Sunday we stayed down in Carson and enjoyed the warm weather....took a nice little hike.

Sacramento

We headed over the mountain to Sacramento this weekend to celebrate Micah's birthday and get away for a family trip. We were craving some sunny, warm weather, which you can normally count on this time of year in California, but there was cold front and it was pretty chilly. I was bummed that we had to wear jackets and bundle up, but we still managed to enjoy ourselves. And it was nice to see the green grass and blooming flowers. I am SOOOOO ready for some warm weather!!!

On Saturday we went to the Sacramento Zoo and to Fairytale Town (which is the coolest kids park I've ever seen). Yesterday it poured rain all day so we spent most of the day at IKEA before driving home in a blizzard (seriously).

We stayed at the Embassy Suites and Owen slept on the fold-out couch in the living area. He thought it was fun to have his own room, plus Adler didn't wake him up when she cried in the middle of the night.

Here's Owen at the zoo on a very fun concrete slide. I really love this photo.

Mean spider....

Just how a 33 year old should act....

Owen liked petting the animals.

The Sacramento Zoo is small, but perfect for Owen. He saw tigers, lions, giraffes, chimpanzees, snakes, zebras, and birds.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Fairytale Town is a kids park across the street from the zoo that was built in 1959. Everything in the park relates to a fairytale or nursery rhyme. I like that the park is "old school" with interesting play structures that Owen could relate to. Here's Owen sliding down the Old Woman in the Shoe.

Grandma's Here

My mom (a.k.a. Grandma) was here for a quick weekend/Easter visit. We started off the weekend taking Owen and Adler swimming. This was Adler's very first time in the pool and she was very chill. She's game for just about anything (except eating solids or drinking from a bottle, but that's a different story).

Here's the proud Grandma.

Owen was so excited to spend time with his Grandma. He dominated her time all weekend.

This is Owen checking out the Easter Bunny for the first time. I think he was expecting a little bunny, so he was impressed with how HUGE the Easter Bunny was.

On Easter morning we actually had to hunt eggs inside the house because it was too cold outside for the Easter Bunny. Seriously. We filled the plastic eggs with lots of goodies......crackers, hotwheels, coins, and a little bit of candy. The first egg Owen opened that contained candy Owen stated very seriously, This is not healthy. Then he closed the egg and kept hunting. I guess he's actually listening when we talk about healthy food. Who knew?
Adler went to the doctor a few days ago for her 6 month check-up and is 18 pounds, 9 ounces (90th percentile) and 26.5 inches long (75th percentile). She is sitting, laughing, babbling, loves her brother, and reluctantly drinks from a sippy cup. No bottles or solids please.

The Saturday before Easter we took Owen to the community-wide Easter Egg hunt. Check out all the people. We were actually running late and ended up having to park forever away from the fields. We had to run as fast as we could to make it in time and we were all out of breathe by the time we got there.

The egg hunt was over in about 40 seconds. Here are Tessa, Orrin, Ryder and Owen showing off their goodies.

Adler slept through the whole thing.

Happy Easter!

We took the kids to see the Easter Bunny yesterday and Owen was thrilled! More pictures to come of our fun Easter weekend!
