Capitola

This past weekend we escaped the cold weather in Nevada to warmer weather on the coast (although not quite warm enough for a Texas girl). Our friends Enid and Cory invited us to their beach house in Capitola for the long weekend and it was a much needed get-away for this family.

We spent two days on the beach and touring downtown Capitola. Adler wasn't a huge fan of the sand and stayed on the beach blanket most of the time. She's going to have to get used to the sand between her toes because I'm counting down the days until the Tahoe summer begins!

Owen getting some air off his sand hill.

Brock found a starfish, which the boys were fascinated with.

Just taking a stroll.......

Adler is such a little cuddle-bug.

Check out these sunburned kiddos after day one at the beach. BAD mommies! We were actually cold all day because the wind was strong on the beach and sunscreen rarely crossed our minds.

This is a mom's dream.....I love to see my kids snuggling together.

On our second day out, it was a bit warmer so Micah decided to do some surfing.

I fell in love with Capitola! Such a cute beach town.

Many thanks to the Jennings Family for inviting us to hang with them for the weekend!

Music in May

Here are a few photos from the Music in May production. Every year the Child Development Center puts on a performance for parents and this year all the kids danced to 80s music....my favorite! Adler's class was mesmerized by the crowd and didn't dance at all. But they sure looked cute! Here she is with her teacher Miss Meagan after she spotted me in the crowd.

And here she is when the song was over running for me, crying "MAMA, MAMA!"

To my disappointment, Owen's class danced to a song I've never heard before......how can that be???? But it was still really cute.

Owen and Sofia once again.

The final performance of the night was by the 5 year old class.....they perfected Thriller and it was awesome!! Check out the cool zombies.

Sofia & Owen

Sofia is pretty much the only girl friend that Owen plays with. All of his other friends are boys. But these two have been buddies since they were babies and are really sweet with each other. In a few days, Owen's school having their annual Music in May production and Owen is dancing with Sofia in the show. Here they are at school last week practicing their moves.

Sofia takes dance lessons and yesterday I took Owen to watch her in her recital. He gave her a flower after her dances and this is how they posed for a photo. Pretty darn cute!

I'm Hooked

For Mother's Day I asked Micah to make some changes to our laundry room. So he moved all the skis and snowboards into the garage, painted the walls and hung hooks.....lots of hooks.

I think it's funny how excited I was about these hooks, but it's SO nice to have a central place to hang purses, grocery bags, diaper bags, work bags, gym bags and leashes that used to clutter our house. I LOVE it!! Feels good to get organized!

While I work from home......

I'm still working from home 2 days a week (I feel so blessed to have such a flexible work schedule) and Adler is pretty good about keeping herself busy. I keep a stack of cards at my desk and she loves to look at them all and make a mess.

She also likes to play with the dogs (only while I'm closely watching)!!

A New Habit??

I've been doing some cleaning/organizing and in the process the kids found an stash of old pacifiers. Adler would suck on one of these all day long if I let her.....sure don't want to start this habit at 20 months!!!

Celebrating 10 Years Together

Today I celebrate the best decision I ever made......marrying Micah 10 years ago! I made this video montage for Micah a few years ago and updated it for our 10th anniversary. I love you, Micah and look forward to our next 10+ years together.

River Festival/Mom's Day

After Micah and the kids let me sleep in on Mother's Day morning, the kids tackled me in bed and surprised me with cards and gifts!

Both the kid's classrooms at their school had sweet Mother's Day celebrations. In Adler's room we decorated and ate cookies (her favorite) and in Owen's room he served me tea and crumpets for breakfast.

It's become a tradition for us to go to the Reno River Festival on Mother's Day weekend......we started going on my very first Mother's Day, when Owen was a baby.

It was a little windy this year, but still lots to see and do. I was glad we weren't in the water though.

Happy (late) Earth Day!

There's a great Earth Day Festival in Reno that we try to make it to every year. We lucked out with gorgeous spring weather this year.....

Owen and Ryder watching a cool drum circle.

Playing on the playground.

The boys just had to check out this cool vehicle.....definitely a Burning Man ride.

Crazy hair and more.....

Owen watches us pull Adler's hair back every morning and a few days ago he wanted pony tails too. Here is the hilarious result!

On a school picnic, eating with Sofia and Ryder.

These red boots were given to us when I was pregnant with Owen. He loved to stomp around in them and now it's Adler's turn!

Where is Adler?

Where's is Miss A?

There she is!!!!
