Still fighting it.

We are STILL fighting sickness around here. All of us are on round two or three of a cold and Owen spent half of last weekend throwing up, poor guy. We think it was something he ate because he didn't have a fever and nobody else got the stomach bug. SOooooo, there's not a lot going on around here. We're just trying to take it easy.

A few days ago we did give Adler her first meal with a spoon....bananas......she's not a fan. But we'll keep trying.

Here's Micah attempting to read a letter from his Grannie.....Adler sure did want that paper from him!

Army guys vs. dinosaurs. Who's going to win the battle?

Owen did start swimming lessons this week.....real swim lessons, where I'm not in the pool with him. This was weird for me, especially because I taught swim lessons for so long (back in the day). But he's doing great and is really enjoying it.

Sick Days

This past week has been no fun around here. We've all been sick with something. First Owen caught pink eye and of course had to share with his sister. Luckily, it didn't seem to bother either one of them very much, but it was contagious, so we've been home a lot. And all four of us have been fighting a nasty cold. I seem to be the only one who's cold is still lingering. I just can't seem to stay healthy.

So here are some pictures from around the house this week. Adler is already loving the phone. Signs of things to come???

Owen hasn't been able to go skiing again, but he does like to wear his helmet and goggles when he eats breakfast.

This is Adler getting her first taste of something other than my milk.....a pear! And she loved it!

Adler loves playing with toys now. She's learned to keep herself entertained while I work. She especially likes her glow worm that Mimi gave her! She gets really excited when the face lights up.

On her head is a taggie that her Grandma made. It's the cutest little lady bug that has different textures for her to feel and love on.

This and That

We didn't do anything exciting for Valentine's Day last weekend, but we did try to have a special family day. Micah bought us a fondue pot and we made cheese and chocolate fondue for dinner. Owen refused to taste the cheese fondue (strange since he loves cheese), but he couldn't get enough of the chocolate fondue!

Adler has discovered her feet!

Bath time fun! Adler loves to sit in the bathtub and splash and splash!!

Owen gave me this stuffed dog for Valentine's Day, but Adler has claimed it as her own. Owen insists that I sleep with it every night.
Micah brought home some of his work drawings and let Owen finish them up.

I like this shot of Micah and Adler. She's so lucky to have such a great father!

Owen likes to blow raspberries on Adler's belly.

Adler hasn't started eating solid foods yet, but she does like to sit at the table with the family every night for dinner. She is starting to show interest in our food, so she'll probably start solids sometime in the next month.

Happy Valentine's Day!

On Friday Owen's classroom had a Friendship Party. About a week ago, Ms. Devoria asked the class what they wanted to do for their party and the kids decided they wanted cupcakes, gifts, and stickers. So, all week long the kids each made one Valentine card (using stickers) and then they wrapped each card and put them in a box. At the party, each child chose one wrapped gift to open. They enjoyed sharing each other's cards.

The kids baked cupcakes together and here they are decorating their own cupcake. They also made party hats and paper balloons that hung from the ceiling. Owen's favorite color is yellow, so of course he chose the yellow icing for his cupcake.

Ms. Devoria is reading to the kids here while some other kids finished their cupcakes. She is such a wonderful teacher! We just love her patience and teaching style.

Here's Owen choosing his gift.

Surprise! One mom brought in a bunch of balloons for the kids to play with!

Skiing at Three!

This is one of the reasons I love living in Nevada.....I get to teach my three year old how to SKI!!! It was so much fun putting Owen on skis for the first time last weekend.
We kept him on the bunny slope for a couple of hours. He skied with his friends Ryder, Orrin and Sofia.

We tried to get him to keep his hands on his knees so he would lean forward and not fall backwards. Here he is in total race-mode.

Neither of us wore skis, we just walked/ran along behind him so he could get the hang of it.

Adler couldn't stay awake for all the excitement. She slept on me the entire time.

Taking a break, eating the snow.

Brenda, Ryder, Micah & Owen

Owen had his fair share of whining, but overall he did great. We're planning to go again in a few weeks and I'll bring my skis along then.
