Micah has been working relentlessly on re-landscaping our front yard for the past several weeks. He did everything by hand.....ripped up grass (this was a huge hurdle), took it to the dump, re-worked the irrigation system, tilled the soil, planted the plants, and finally mulched. I think it looks great now, but it's going to look even better in a few months after the plants have grown some. Check out the results (before, during, and after).
So, it's been forever since we've updated our blog, but we've had, ummm.....other things going on recently. Last week we had our 5th Anniversary (which is really heard to believe). To celebrate we went to Santa Cruz for four days and it was a nice get-away for us. We relaxed on the beach, ate at some fun local restaurants, got a little sun burned, and relaxed some more. Micah also took a surfing lesson and picked it up pretty fast! It was really hard to go back to work today! We are a little sunburned here. This was our view from our hotel balcony. Here is a picture of our hotel The famous Santa Cruz Boardwalk Yes, that is Micah surfing (on the yellow board)!
Our friends Tasha and Jason gave Micah an awesome birthday gift.....a trainer kite so he can learn how to kite board! Tonight we took the kite out for the second time. It wasn't really windy enough but he got some good practice! Then he made Sandy pull him all the way home!
We have had a very lazy weekend and have done a whole lot of nothing. We did get new beds this weekend. We bought a headboard/footboard/rails for our bed and bought new beds for the dogs too....they were so excited when we brought in their beds. They immediately got comfortable. It has snowed and rained all day long today. Can you believe....snow on Easter???
So it turns out that Micah is getting old. To counter that he now has a new skateboard. We spent the day carving up and down the streets of the neighborhood, and as you can see we are to lazy to push ourselves so we hooked sandy up to a harness and had her pull us around. It is nice to finally find a use for all of her energy. We tried it with Kirby too but it did not work the same.
You're probably tired of seeing pictures of our dogs on this blog, but what can we say??? They run the house! We had a pretty lazy weekend, but the dogs sure had fun! We have recently discovered Sandy's obsession with the tennis ball.....she LOVES to fetch and will do it for hours! We also used the bubble machine that my co-workers gave me for my birthday and the dogs were fascinated! I finally had to turn off the machine because I was afraid Sandy was going to make herself sick.
March was a busy month for birthdays in my office.....I've posted some pictures so you can see how creative we've gotten. Michele's desk was wrapped in colored plastic wrap and Tami's area was smothered in silly string (not pictured). Tasha collects old Volkswagens so we turned her cubicle into a VW Bus....it was awesome! So what did they do for my birthday???? PINK, pinata, PINK, bubbles, PINK, balloons, and MORE PINK! If you know me well, you know that pink is one of my least favorite colors, and my co-workers know me well! They were trying to be funny!! :o) We didn't get very far blindfolded, so then we got serious! Tasha holding the pinata after we finished it off! Sandy wears the crown well!
We had a pretty laid back weekend with some spring-like weather. Micah worked in the yard and planted some flowers and veggies using a start-up kit. On Saturday night we joined our friends, Kim and Bob, for a night out. They took us to a Japanese restaurant where the chefs prepare the meal right at your table.....it was pretty expensive, but the food was delicious!! Then we went to a couple of bars in downtown Reno, had some drinks, listened to a band, and stayed out WAY too late! We're getting too old for that! Now that's a drink!!!
We had a good weekend! It started on Friday night with swing dance lessons. We just started an eight-week class and I think it's going to be fun! Kelly got to go shopping at the new mall in Reno. We took a trip off the hill (in California) and into spring time. And Kelly got to go shopping again. Oh yeah and Kelly is officially old now. The shopping does not need much description, but the trip to the hill country was cool. We tasted some good wines and found this cool glass blowing gallery where we watched the guy make some pretty cool pieces. Kelly was supposed to take a glider ride this morning, but we had to postpone it due to bad weather....it snowed almost all day long! I bought Kelly a new camera for her birthday so here are some pictures.
After spending almost 10 years in Carson City, Nevada, we have moved back to Texas! Now we are living in Austin and enjoying spending more time with our family.
