McKinney Falls and Twin Falls

We have been exploring different places with water this summer, because it's the only way to stay cool!  We finally visited McKinney Falls State Park, which is only 20 minutes away from us, and what a GEM!  We can't wait to go back and swim more in the swimming hole.
On this trip we spent our time exploring the creek, building a dam, and catching critters.
We also hiked to Twin Falls on the greenbelt and spent an entire day swimming and jumping off rocks.  Even Miss Adler jumped over and over again....this girl has no fear!

Fun with the Locklears!

A few weeks ago my good friend, Alyssa and her sweet family came into Austin for a quick visit and trip to the Thinkery.  Despite the museum being very crowded, we all managed to enjoy ourselves.  After a few hours there we left and walked over to the food trucks for lunch and then played outside for a while.
Here's all of our kiddos!  Owen and Cade really hit it off.
Here we are with our girls.
This duck actually let the kids pet it.  Weird, but fun for the kids!

So glad to spend a little time with Alyssa!

Summertime

A few weeks ago Owen and I took my mom to watch the Austin Aces play tennis.  We saw Andy Roddick play two matches, which was really exciting!

Here we are at the Long Center watching Pee Wee's Big Adventure on the lawn.

Fun morning at Art Park where we saw a dog show!
Then face painting and animal balloons, all for $1.00!  Can't beat that entertainment!

Having a slice of pizza at Home Slice!
We saw the Congress Bridge bats take flight.  We were told that in a few weeks there will be twice as many bats out because the new babies will be flying.  I guess we might have to go back!

Kids Week in College Station

I am starting a new job as a hospital Lactation Consultant and was in training all last week.  So the kiddos went to College Station for an entire week of FUN while I focused on my work.  They hopped around all three of their grandparent's houses and had a blast!  They went to the movies, went swimming several times, rode horses, went to a museum, visited a fire station, and toured a drive-through safari zoo.  Is that entertainment or what???
The kids have a tradition of eating meals in their grandma's closet.....don't ask me why, but they do think this is great fun.  They also drew an elaborate driveway mural of the ranch!

Here they are at the Franklin Safari. This giraffe seems really interested in them!

Aunt Madison took them on a great visit to the fire station.

Even though I had to work all week, Micah and I managed to go out almost every single night!  We had to take advantage of a week of date nights!  We had some wonderful meals and even saw a movie.  We missed the kiddos for sure, but definitely enjoyed our adult-only week!
I am so grateful to all of the grandmothers and Aunt Madison who helped us out last week!  Thanks so much for providing a week of memories to Owen and Adler and giving me the opportunity to train for my new job.  We are so lucky!

July 4th Weekend

We had such a great holiday last weekend, that included an awesome concert and out of town family!
We spent July 4th at the pool and then went to an outdoor concert at the Nutty Brown Cafe.....the venue, music, weather and fireworks were all amazing!!
We love exposing the kids to live music and this was their second time to see Bob Schneider in concert!  He's our local favorite!
Micah's brother, Mark, and his beautiful family joined us on Saturday and Sunday.  It was their first visit to Austin since we moved back to Texas, so we tried to show them around some.  We attempted a day trip to Hamilton Pool but arrived about 20 cars too late.  So instead we went down the road to Reimer's Ranch and played in the river.  It turned out to be a great spot too!  Owen spent the entire time catching minnows and fish.

The squirrels at Zilker Park are super friendly!
We also took Mark and Nicole to Salt Lick for some amazing Austin BBQ and then to Gourdoughs for a weird take on dessert donuts!  YUM!

Water Fun!

We've been spending a ton of time in the water lately.....that's really the only way we can be outside during the day.  Lucky for us, there are lots of options for water fun here in Austin!
We've been exploring some new splash pads!
Tracy and her kiddos were here in Texas recently and we played in splash pads and ate delicious snow cones!

Even Titus had his own snow cone!
Adler and Cecily get along so well.....and occasionally Owen would join in too!

A boy and his dog......
Owen, Cecily & Adler at Amy's Ice Cream!

Of course we all love going to the POOL!!!
Adler is just a little fish with absolutely no fear!  We have to be constantly on the watch with her.
