Time for Soccer!
Last week as I walked onto the soccer fields for the first time, I saw my future flash before my eyes. SPORTING EVENTS!!! I have a feeling this will be my life for the next 17 years! And I'm totally into it. Yes, you can officially call me a "Soccer Mom." Maybe I need a mini van now???
After being completely unprepared for last week's first practice, we headed to the sporting goods store and bought Owen soccer cleats, shin guards, socks, new soccer ball and shorts! He is pretty stoked about his new team sport. They are off next weekend for Labor Day, but games will fill our Saturdays through mid-October.
The 4-5 year old league has 4 players per team and games are 3 on 3.
Here is Owen and his new team mates.
Today they practiced for 30 minutes and then had a scrimmage. It was pretty fun to watch, because neither the kids or parents knew what was going on. Owen did make one goal (although it was in the opponents goal....details, details).
So there you have it.......Owen's first team sport. Updates are sure to come after the games begin!

TEXAS, we miss you!
We had a whirlwind trip to Texas this month! Despite the 100+ degree weather, we had a wonderful time catching up with family and friends. We put close to 1,000 miles on my mom's car driving across the state to visit our grandparents (I can't thank my mom enough for letting us borrow her car). Our travels took us to College Station, Huntsville, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Brady and Austin in only 10 days. So it wasn't exactly a relaxing trip home, but they never are.
Here are some highlights from our trip and a slide show down below with a ton of photos.
Our first day we spent in College Station at the Texas A&M Rec Center. It was the perfect place to spend the day indoors, away from the heat, but also allowing the kids to run and get some exercise. For some reason I never took advantage of this amazing rock wall when I was in college, so I was so excited to finally climb it......with my mom! It was awesome.
One of the main reasons for our trip was my brother's graduation from Sam Houston State University with his Masters Degree in Health (what else?). So proud, Brian!!
Down in South Texas we spent some time with Micah's grandparents. They will be moving to College Station soon, so it was fun to go to their home before their big move.
Owen even got to pick some cotton!
Then we spent a relaxing day in San Antonio. We considered going to Sea World, but in the end just stayed at a hotel with a great pool and just relaxed with Tracy and Cecily.
Here we are at our family Ranch in Brady, visiting my 95 year old grandmother. I've never seen the ranch this dry and dusty before. Wow, I'm hoping for lots of rain this fall.

These are all my cousins on my dad's side of the family. We met in Austin to celebrate my Granny's 80th birthday......so fun to reconnect with all the family!!

Owen in Texas
Four days before Micah, Adler and me flew to Texas, Owen flew down with his Grandma for an adventure without the parents!
Of course Grandma bought him some new Aggie stuff.
Picnic in the closet? Why not.

I have to admit, I was a little emotional about him being so far away from us for 4 days, but he didn't miss us for a second.
Owen split his time between 2 grandparents' houses and stayed pretty busy.

Catching Up
This summer has turned out to be crazy busy, with lots of company and several trips. I can't believe it's already the middle of August because I can't even think about summer ending. Boooooooo.
I've made a slide show with more photos from July (yes, we take a ridiculous amount of photos, especially when family is in town). My mom came out to visit the last week of July and we went to a Reno Aces Game, went to the beach, hiking, biking, swimming.....you name it, we did it.
