Catching Up!

I've had a hard time keeping up with the blog this summer.....we've been busy and enjoying the warmth these past 2 months. How can it already be August??? August typically means the end of summer here, so why do I feel like summer just began?

Anyway, Ryder spent the night with us a while back and here they are, just out of bed watching cartoons in the morning (with the bouncy balls, of course).

Micah takes Sandy to work with him every day. This is what she does while Micah slaves away all day....does she have a hard life or what??

Micah created a sand box for Owen out of an old tractor tire he found discarded in the desert.

Miss Potato Head?

Our friends, the Phalan Family, opened another restaurant in Reno about a month ago.....Firkin and Wolf. We were invited to a Family and Friends event they held right before their grand opening. Good atmosphere, good food! Go check it out.

Orrin, Owen, Tessa & Adler outside of their school one afternoon.

Our lavender is lovely this summer.

Adler is pulling herself up on everything now. Walking can't be too far away.

Enjoying some pool time last weekend.

Our friends Maureen and Steve purchased a sail boat and we went out with them on Tahoe last weekend. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for sailing, but we had a blast just hanging on the boat (and we didn't get struck by lightning, so that's always good).

Adler on the inside of the boat.

Owen and Orrin ran around naked for a while because they were cold in their wet swim suits.

Micah trying out the paddle board.

It's harder than it looks, but once you get going it's a lot of fun.

Adventures with Aunt Madison

My 16 year old sister, Madison, flew home with us from Texas and spent a week with us! It was so much fun having her around and of course....the kids LOVED spending time with her!! She even kept both of them for a couple of days when I had to work.

While she was here, we took her out for some Tahoe time.....hiking, beaching, fishing, canoeing.

Here we are hiking Shakespeare Rock.

My little rock climber.....he is fearless!

This looks scarier than it actually was.

It took us over an hour to make it to the top! This was once considered an easy, quick hike in our pre-parenting days. Now this hike took much longer, seemed more difficult, and included whining-control and many rest stops for Owen. But overall, he did awesome.

But the amazing view was worth it. And we had a picnic on top.

Flying baby.....

Super Owen!

Then we headed down to the beach to cool off and relax.

Micah, Owen and Madison jumping off rocks.

Squishy face
Apparently the hike wore Adler out too. What a life.....napping on the beach.

Micah took Madison out on her first fishing experience at Spooner Lake. Beginners luck....she caught 3 fish!

On the last night she was here we had a little photo shoot to get some pictures of the two of us for our dad's birthday.

We miss you Madison! Come back soon!

Our Vacation

Our vacation was a much-needed 2 week getaway! We spent over a week in Texas visiting family and took a 5 day cruise to Mexico. This was Adler's first trip to Texas and the first time she met all of her Great Grandparents. She is very lucky to have 4 Great Grandparents and they were all VERY excited to meet her and see Owen again.

The cruise was very relaxing. It probably wasn't the best place to take 2 young children, but it wasn't difficult to enjoy our time there. The food was amazing and there were plenty of things to keep Owen busy. It was a wonderful feeling to not have to worry about work, cooking, cleaning and the all daily things that take over our lives at home. Best of all we were able to catch-up with Micah's parents and brothers.

While we were gone Adler seemed to really grow up! She officially started crawling in Texas (much to the excitement of her grandparents), and she also started clapping and eating more solid food. She is a super traveler and just seems happy to go wherever we go.....and we went to a LOT of places in Texas: We managed to make it to Corpus Christi, College Station, Galveston, Brady, back to College Station, and then to Houston. More time was spent in the car than we would have liked, but that was the only way for us to see all the Great Grandparents. It's really too bad we live so far away from our entire family. But we made the best of it.

Congratulations to Mark and Nicole!

We've been on vacation for the past 2 weeks, to Texas and on a cruise to Mexico. We had a BLAST! Of course we have a ton of pictures to post, but I wanted to start with the wedding. The main purpose of our trip was for Micah's brother's wedding. Mark married Nicole on the cruise ship just hours before the ship departed for Mexico. Don't they make the cutest couple??

Micah, his youngest brother Matt, and Micah's dad all served as the groomsmen. And Owen was the ring bearer.

Here's Owen handing over the rings.

I am SO EXCITED to welcome another female into this family of mostly men! It's going to be great having a sister-in-law.

The gorgeous bride (a.k.a. Aunt Nicole) and Adler.
