Beach Day at Lake Tahoe

Yesterday we spent the afternoon on the beach! It was a gorgeous day and we had been craving some beach time. We parked on the side of the road and then hiked down to the water. Owen played in the sand and then tried to eat it, which didn't go over too well. The water is still really chilly, so Owen didn't get to play in the water (except to clean his hands).

Toes, Plants, and Squash

Owen now has us running after him everywhere! He is crawling all over the house....Kelly learned that it only takes one minute for him to crawl across the living room, reach a plant, and make a mess! I guess it's time we do something with all our house plants, but we're not sure what. In addition to eating avocados and bananas, Owen has also tried sweet potatoes and squash. Tonight he had butternut squash and I think it's his favorite so far. We are making his baby food from scratch and it's been real easy. We found a great website with all kinds of baby food recipes and ideas.

Just waking up from a nap and ready to eat! As you can see he's starting to pull himself up. We are going to lower the crib tonight so he can't fall out.

the crawling has begun

Owen had his 6 month doctor's appointment this morning and is still growing like a bad weed! He now weighs 19.5 pounds (85th percentile) and is 29.5 inches long (100+ percentile)! He had to get 2 vaccines, which he was NOT happy about, but he only cried a few minutes. And....Owen started crawling last week! He's really keeping us on our toes now! Coolest Dad!

Happy First Father's Day to Micah!!!! Yesterday we went to Pyramid Lake with our friends Kim and Bob who have a wakeboarding boat. Micah got to try out his new board and guess what??? He still has all his moves! Owen was impressed with his dad's wakeboarding skills. And we were VERY impressed with Owen on the boat. We weren't sure how he would do with a life jacket on, but he was calm and cool the entire time....about 4 hours! He even took a nap during the roughest part of our ride. And today we had a very laid back day. Micah wanted to go to a movie, so we took Owen for the first time. He got fussy about half way through, but fell asleep and slept the rest of the movie!

6 Month Photos

Today we took Owen to Little People Portraits for his 6 month pictures! He just happened to be in an excellent mood and they did such a good job with him! These are our favorites. And about the rubber chicken......Owen really liked it so Micah wanted the chicken in the photo!

Swimming with Dad

Micah took the morning off work today and joined us for Owen's swim class. He was the only dad there today!

Owen & Brock

Owen is now 6 months old!!! We can hardly believe it! We visited his friend Brock yesterday and it was the first time they really interacted with one another. They are getting to be so fun! Tonight Owen had avocados for dinner.....he didn't seem too impressed. It was his first food to try other than rice cereal. In a few days he'll try a banana and maybe he'll like that better.

Virginia City & Wild Horses

On Sunday we went to Virginia City for the afternoon. And on our drive to Reno we saw lots of wild horses! More than we've ever seen in one herd (I counted over 40). Look how close they were to the road! Ann left yesterday to go back home to Texas.....we sure enjoyed her being here!

Carson City Rendezvous

On Saturday we went to the Carson City Rendezvous, an annual celebration/festival of the wild wild west. They have a mini-train at the park, so Owen took his first train ride. He wasn't so sure about the tunnel we went through but other than that, he liked it! The weather was gorgeous and we ate delicious Indian tacos for lunch....YUM!

Random Pics

Kristin and Jack joined us for our swim class on Friday. And then we had brunch at Comma Coffee. Jack wasn't so sure about Owen because he kept trying to steal Jack's toys and sippy cup!

Dirty Joke

We were checking out some old videos, and ran across this one of Micah's grandfather. To breakup the steady stream of Owen updates we thought it would be funny to post this video with a few modifications. We know that when Pop sees it he will turn a couple of shades of red, and won't be very happy about it, but we could not resist. Enjoy!
