Our Big Boy!

We are amazed at how much Owen has learned just in the past week. As you've seen from previous posts, he is already sitting by himself and getting ready to crawl. He has been getting into the "crawl position" and rocking back and forth, and I finally got it on camera! Then he just plops back down on his belly.....it's pretty cute. He is also scooting all over the place. He likes to scoot in circles. Also, here's a picture of Owen with his friend Ryder. Owen and Ryder see each other 3 days a week at daycare and Ryder also spent last Friday with us. He's only 3 weeks older than Owen.

Sitting Up

Owen is sitting up by himself now. He's still a little wobbly, but he can sit by himself for several minutes. He's also getting closer and closer to crawling!

Bike to Work Week

This week was Bike to Work Week, a national effort to encourage people to bike to work for health and environmental reasons. I didn't bike because I'm always driving Owen around, but Micah decided to bike to work on Tuesday....that's right, Micah biked all the way to his office! If you don't know, we live in Carson City and Micah works in South Lake Tahoe - over the mountain and 30 miles away. Carson City's elevation is 4600 feet and Micah climbed to an elevation of 7300 feet at the top of the mountain! Wow, is he dedicated or what??? His co-workers even had a "finish line" waiting for him at their office (made out of toilet paper). It took him almost 4 hours to get to work that day. I don't think he's going to do this regularly, but he enjoyed the ride once. Here are some pictures of his ride.

Mother's Day Hike

I had an awesome first Mother's day! Micah and Owen took me out to breakfast and then we hiked Shakespeare Rock up at Tahoe. It wasn't a long hike because we weren't sure how Owen would do. And he ended up sleeping through some of the hike! It was a good day....

Our 6th Anniversary

On Saturday we went to the Reno River Festival in downtown Reno. It's actually an annual kayaking competition, but there were also bands playing, booths to look at, and wonderful weather! Saturday also marked our 6th anniversary!!! Mark took care of Owen that night so we could out out to a nice dinner. It was the first time we've left Owen behind for a date since he was born. We missed him but it was great to get out just the two of us. And when we got home, he was sound asleep in his room. Owen is now 5 months old and weighs over 18 pounds! And we're convinced he's going to be crawling any day now! He's so close and we're just not sure we're ready for him to be mobile so soon! YIKES!

Owen's First Official Laugh

Owen has been giggling for a while, but tonight he was laughing hard....big belly laughs for his dad! Micah gets the best laughs out of him! Check it out!

New Toys

Owen has two new toys! After using his friend Brock's swing last weekend, we had to get one. He likes to swing outside and watch his dad do yard work! We also bought him a saucer playstation. He can stand in it upright and really look around. He loves it and is fascinated with all the different toys! It keeps him busy so we can cook dinner.

Just Hangin'

The weather is finally nice enough for Owen to spend some time outside. He's still practicing rolling over - every time we lay him on his back! And yesterday he visited his friend Brock for a while.

roll out

This morning, right when I was leaving for work, Owen rolled from his back to tummy for the first time! Micah was home with him today and said he rolled all day long! Now every time we lay him on his back, he rolls onto his belly!

Owen, Sandy & New Jumper

Owen has a new toy.....a Johnny Jumper. He loves it! He just loves to look around and see everything, especially the dogs. Sandy is particularly interested in Owen and stays close to him most of the time.

4 Months Old

Owen had his 4 month doctor's appointment today. He weighs 16 pounds, 6 ounces and is 27.5 inches long! He is in the 80th percentile for weight and 100 plus percentile (off the charts) in height! It's amazing that in 4 months he has almost doubled his birth weight and grown an astounding 6 inches! Oh, and yesterday he rolled over for the first time, from tummy to back! He's getting to be so BIG!

Owen's First Boat Ride

As a part of a conference that Kelly attended this week, we rode on the MS Dixie on Thursday night....it's a big paddle boat that rides across Lake Tahoe. They served dinner and had a band; Owen even danced to a song or two before falling asleep! And we got to see a gorgeous Tahoe sunset! It was a nice evening.

Micah's 30th Birthday

Micah said goodbye to his twenties this week! We all went out to eat at BJ's in Reno to celebrate. For his birthday I gave him a kiteboarding lesson, which we'll go into California for. He was supposed to do it this weekend, but the weather is cold and rainy so we are postponing it for a few weeks. It should be fun though!

Swim Swim Swim

Owen has fun in his swim class. He doesn't get excited, but he doesn't fuss either. He just chills and floats around. He had fun swimming with his grandmom last week too.
