Dogs and Bubbles

You're probably tired of seeing pictures of our dogs on this blog, but what can we say??? They run the house! We had a pretty lazy weekend, but the dogs sure had fun! We have recently discovered Sandy's obsession with the tennis ball.....she LOVES to fetch and will do it for hours! We also used the bubble machine that my co-workers gave me for my birthday and the dogs were fascinated! I finally had to turn off the machine because I was afraid Sandy was going to make herself sick.

Birthdays in the Office

March was a busy month for birthdays in my office.....I've posted some pictures so you can see how creative we've gotten. Michele's desk was wrapped in colored plastic wrap and Tami's area was smothered in silly string (not pictured). Tasha collects old Volkswagens so we turned her cubicle into a VW Bus....it was awesome! So what did they do for my birthday???? PINK, pinata, PINK, bubbles, PINK, balloons, and MORE PINK! If you know me well, you know that pink is one of my least favorite colors, and my co-workers know me well! They were trying to be funny!! :o)

We didn't get very far blindfolded, so then we got serious!

Out in Reno

We had a pretty laid back weekend with some spring-like weather. Micah worked in the yard and planted some flowers and veggies using a start-up kit. On Saturday night we joined our friends, Kim and Bob, for a night out. They took us to a Japanese restaurant where the chefs prepare the meal right at your table.....it was pretty expensive, but the food was delicious!! Then we went to a couple of bars in downtown Reno, had some drinks, listened to a band, and stayed out WAY too late! We're getting too old for that!
Now that's a drink!!!

From Flurries to Flowers

We had a good weekend! It started on Friday night with swing dance lessons. We just started an eight-week class and I think it's going to be fun! Kelly got to go shopping at the new mall in Reno. We took a trip off the hill (in California) and into spring time. And Kelly got to go shopping again. Oh yeah and Kelly is officially old now.

The shopping does not need much description, but the trip to the hill country was cool. We tasted some good wines and found this cool glass blowing gallery where we watched the guy make some pretty cool pieces. Kelly was supposed to take a glider ride this morning, but we had to postpone it due to bad weather....it snowed almost all day long! I bought Kelly a new camera for her birthday so here are some pictures.

March 11 and 12, 2006

We hung out at the beach this weekend.....it was a little cold for bathing suits but the dogs sure had fun! We got about a foot of snow on Friday and it's been snowing off and on all weekend long. Micah went to Kirkwood Ski Resort with some friends on Saturday and had blast in all the fresh powder! Saturday night we went to Reno and had dinner at our friend's house. Sunday we skied a few runs at Heavenly.

Alyssa's Visit to Tahoe

Alyssa came this weekend for her second visit since we've lived here. I took her to Virginia City where we drank a bloody mary at the Bucket of Blood Saloon....a band was playing and most of the customers were dressed up in old-timer western costumes. It was pretty funny. We also went to Reno and Lake Tahoe of course. The lake was looking gloomy today because a storm was blowing in. It was really great to spend some time with her!!!

Got Wood?

Burton Custom LE

My new snow board came in today. I ordered it online at sierrasnowboard.com so I wasn't sure what I would be getting. It is a Burton custom and it looks like it has alligator skin on it. The important thing is that it is in one piece! A big storm is coming in tonight so hopefully its first outing will be a good one.

Matisyahu

Kelly and I went to a pretty cool concert last night. She bought me tickets to see Matisyahu in Reno for Valentines day. The lead singer is a...well he is interesting. He is orthodox Jewish man that wears a black suit and has a huge black beard. Oh yeah and he raps, sings reggae and beat boxes. Sounds weird but he is awesome live and his music has a good message. Check out his site below.

Trevor Hall opened up for Matisyahu and he wasn't too bad. He sounds like Jack Johnson, G Love, and Dave Mathews all mixed in together. His site is below as well.

Oh yeah and we found out that we can't do that kind of stuff on a school night. Today was a little tuff.

Washington D.C.

I went to Washington DC last weekend to visit Melissa and Tracy. Melissa recently moved there and Tracy flew from San Antonio so we could all spend some time together. We went to the Holocaust Museum, the World War 2 Memorial, and met a bunch of Melissa's new friends. It was a quick trip but a lot of fun!

Carson City Freeway

For over a year now construction has been going on to build a freeway around Carson City. The first section of the freeway is opening next week, and this morning the community was invited to walk, run, or ride bikes down the finished section of freeway. I was pretty impressed with how many people turned out to see the new freeway.....I guess there isn't a whole lot going on in the big town of Carson City!

Sand Mountain

We had a new experience today at Sand Mountain....which is about an hour and a half east of Carson City. The 600-foot-high, 2.5-mile-long sand dune is an off-road playground for ATVs, dune buggies, dirt bikes, and a thing called a "sand rail." Our new friends with cool toys, Tasha, Jason, and Ashton have a sand rail which we can only describe as a dune buggie on steroids. Other than obtaining sand in places where the sun don't shine, we had the best time we've had in a while!!!

Sneaky Sandy

So, we've found out what Sandy likes to do when we're at work......she is such a goofy dog! Kirby's not quite sure what to think.

January 29, 2006

We spent the day at Diamond Peak again. Micah had a little more fun teaching his snowboarding class this week. Here are a few pictures from the day......one of Kelly with her friends Tasha and Debra. The other one is US with quite a view in the background!
