Back to Texas

Adler and I headed back to Texas a few weeks ago for a quick trip. I was actually in Austin for work.....I spent 2 days with the Texas Breastfeeding Program. What an amazing program! I learned so much and came home with awesome ideas on how to promote breastfeeding in Nevada.

Here's Adler on the airplane playing peek-a-boo. Such a wonderful traveler!

Where is Adler???

If you look closely you'll see 2 small teeth!

My mom was nice enough to take a few days off work to take care of Adler for me while I worked. Thanks Mom!!!

Good Grandma bonding time!

I managed to have lunch with my aunt, uncle and cousins that I haven't seen in years (seriously). It was great to see them!

Mary and Madison came into town one day too! Oh, how I miss all of my family.

I spent a day/night with my college roomies at Tracy's house. SO fun to hang out with all 4 of us together again! I miss these ladies!

How hard is it to get 2 little girls together for a photo????

VERY difficult. But this one is pretty cute. Adler really enjoyed all of Cecily's fun toys.
While we were in Texas the boys took a boys-only camping trip. If I can ever pry Micah's iPhone out of his hands, I'll download his pictures and post them.

Owen/Family Pictures

In July when we were in Texas, my mom had a photographer take some photos of us all. We had a bunch of pictures taken of Owen, since I hadn't had his pictures taken professionally this year. I thought these turned out really cute of Owen......such a big, handsome boy now! Not a trace of baby left (sniff, sniff).

My mom really wanted some pics of her and Fred with the kids.....proud grandparents! I love the one of my mom and Adler.

Three generations of women here.

We don't have many family pictures of the four of us, so I really like how these turned out.

Group Shot.....we're missing Brian though!

Movie Night & Beach Time

We have some friends who have back yard movie nights occasionally......this is SO fun! Last weekend the kids watched a chipmunk movie.

Ethan, Kameron, Jessie and Owen

Sunday was beach day. Owen was very proud of his puddle of water that he and his dad built.

Colin and Adler chillin on Tahoe

The cold water didn't seem to bother Adler one bit!

Owen is happy in this picture, but he can't stay in Tahoe for long. His skinny little body starts shivering after a couple of minutes.

Just for fun.....another Adler-getting-air photo.

National Night Out

Every summer the Carson City Sheriff's Office holds a National Night Out Event for the kids. Different law enforcement departments take part and have fun things for the kids to see and learn about. The National Guard opened up 2 of their helicopters and Owen got to check out the pilot's seat.

I hope this is the only time I ever see my husband and son in the back of a cop car.

At the end of the night the 2 helicopters took off, impressing thousands of kids (and their parents).

The thing I remember the most about attending this event last year was......I was very pregnant. It's amazing how quickly this year has gone by. Soon I'll be planning a birthday party!

Is Your Heart Happy?

Sometime last week I was telling Owen how sweet he is and how much I love being his mom. I started hugging him and he asked, "Mom, your heart is happy?"

How sweet is that??? It's so interesting how his little mind thinks. Of course I told him my heart is VERY happy and he said his heart was happy too. What a sweetie!

These are photos from last weekend at the beach.

Catching Up!

I've had a hard time keeping up with the blog this summer.....we've been busy and enjoying the warmth these past 2 months. How can it already be August??? August typically means the end of summer here, so why do I feel like summer just began?

Anyway, Ryder spent the night with us a while back and here they are, just out of bed watching cartoons in the morning (with the bouncy balls, of course).

Micah takes Sandy to work with him every day. This is what she does while Micah slaves away all day....does she have a hard life or what??

Micah created a sand box for Owen out of an old tractor tire he found discarded in the desert.

Miss Potato Head?

Our friends, the Phalan Family, opened another restaurant in Reno about a month ago.....Firkin and Wolf. We were invited to a Family and Friends event they held right before their grand opening. Good atmosphere, good food! Go check it out.

Orrin, Owen, Tessa & Adler outside of their school one afternoon.

Our lavender is lovely this summer.

Adler is pulling herself up on everything now. Walking can't be too far away.

Enjoying some pool time last weekend.

Our friends Maureen and Steve purchased a sail boat and we went out with them on Tahoe last weekend. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate for sailing, but we had a blast just hanging on the boat (and we didn't get struck by lightning, so that's always good).

Adler on the inside of the boat.

Owen and Orrin ran around naked for a while because they were cold in their wet swim suits.

Micah trying out the paddle board.

It's harder than it looks, but once you get going it's a lot of fun.
