Micah spent the weekend at Diamond Peak ski resort in North Lake Tahoe. He volunteered to teach snowboarding for the next 6 weeks.....and in return he boards for free and hopefully finds free passes for his wife too! The snowboarding class is a program by the Carson City Community Center where over 200 nine to fifteen year olds get bused up to the mountain every Sunday for lessons and ski time. On Saturday Micah was in training all day and today he actually taught his first class! It was total chaos but next week should be better (and easier). Kelly went up with him today and skiied with Tasha and Debra, a few friends from work. Diamond Peak is a small, locals resort with awesome views of the lake and short lift lines. We love it!!!

January 13-16, 2006
We didn't do a whole lot this weekend. On Friday night we went to a wine tasting event at a local liquor store.....sounds weird, I know, but it was really a lot of fun and we got to taste some different wines. Wine tasting up here is very popular, I guess because we're so close to California wine country. It snowed a pretty good amount this weekend and the dogs were thrilled of course. We also spent time with Melissa's parents as they were in Tahoe vacationing. Ken and Denise took us out to eat (several times) and were great fun to spend time with.

Flood and Snow

For the past week we have received a TON of rain and on December 31st we received 8 inches in 24 hours. As a result, Carson City and the surrounding valleys flooded. Luckily, we found out that our house is on a slight hill and was not affected. Not everyone was as fortunate as us though. Here is a picture of the Carson River turned into a Lake and a neighborhood that a friend of ours lives in. The very next day, January 1st, temperatures dropped and the rain turned to snow. It snowed all day long and we now have about 6 inches of snow in our yard. It was a crazy weekend for the weather! This is a picture of the dogs on a hike we took in between the rain and snow. We've taken the dogs back since then and they are
